🎤She Walked Onto BGT Shaking With Nerves — Then Linda Mudzenda Made Alesha Reach for the Golden Buzzer

When Linda Mudzenda stepped onto the Britain’s Got Talent stage, the nerves were obvious.

The 21-year-old singer stood in front of the judges trying to steady herself before one of the biggest performances of her life.

Amanda Holden could see how overwhelmed she was and encouraged her to take her time.

For a few seconds, Linda looked like someone simply trying to gather enough courage to begin.

Then the music started.

And the nervous young woman standing at the microphone seemed to disappear.

She Chose “You Say”

For her audition, Linda performed “You Say” by Lauren Daigle.

It was a song that gave her plenty of room to show both emotion and vocal power.

At first, she sang carefully.

Then the performance began to grow.

Her voice became stronger.

The emotion became more obvious.

And the judges started paying very close attention.

Guest judge KSI later said the performance had made him emotional, while Amanda described what Linda had delivered as extraordinary considering how nervous she had appeared only moments earlier.

Alesha Felt Something Different

Alesha Dixon appeared particularly affected.

She told Linda that her heart had been racing during the audition.

For Alesha, this was not simply a technically good vocal performance.

Something about Linda’s delivery felt personal.

The emotion seemed to be coming from somewhere deeper than simply performing a familiar song.

And Alesha had already decided what she wanted to do.

Then She Hit the Golden Buzzer

Instead of waiting for a normal vote, Alesha reached across the desk and pressed the Golden Buzzer.

Gold confetti filled the stage.

Linda immediately broke down in tears.

Only minutes earlier, she had been struggling with nerves.

Now she was standing under a shower of gold with a guaranteed place in the live semi-finals.

It was one of the biggest moments of her BGT journey.

Music Had Always Meant More to Her

Linda was born in Zimbabwe and later settled in Bedford in the UK.

Away from the stage, she worked supporting children with learning disabilities.

She had also spent time singing as a backing vocalist before finally stepping forward as the person at the center of the stage.

Her appearance on BGT gave millions of viewers the chance to hear her voice for themselves.

Linda later spoke about how much her mother had sacrificed to support her love of music and said that helping her family was one of the reasons the opportunity meant so much.

She Returned in the Semi-Final

Linda came back for the first live semi-final of the season.

This time, she performed “Who I Am” by Wyn Starks.

The performance again focused on the emotional quality of her voice.

She finished second in the public vote in her semi-final, behind singer Vinnie McKee.

However, because The Blackouts had already advanced through the live Golden Buzzer and Vinnie won the public vote, Linda’s BGT journey ended at the semi-final stage.

Still, reaching that point after such a nervous first entrance was an impressive transformation.

From Nerves to Golden Confetti

That is what makes Linda Mudzenda’s audition memorable.

Before she sings, she looks overwhelmed by the moment.

Then the song begins.

Her voice takes over.

The judges stop thinking about how nervous she was.

And before long, Alesha is reaching for the Golden Buzzer.
